On October 24, 2006, the EcoHouse, a demonstration green living home in Berkeley, California, gained approval for its constructed wetland and graywater hybrid system. The graywater system became the first to pass code in the state of California, as well as the first permitted, residential graywater system approved by the city of Berkeley. The graywater system also includes the state’s first constructed wetland approved for residential use.
