Home Performance with Energy Star Action Plan
As we ring in the New Year, the U.S. Department of Energy is pleased to announce the posting of its Home Performance with ENERGY STAR (HPwES) Program Report. The report presents our action plan for evolving HPwES and is based on more than 650 stakeholder comments received during an open comment period in 2012. The proposed changes are collectively known as HPwES v2.0.
As a result of analyzing stakeholder input, we were able to identify areas for improvement that would be relatively simple or uncontroversial to improve in the near term, as well as areas where further research and pilots are needed to make thoughtful decisions before proceeding with changes to the program. In 2013, we will work on these near-term improvements by revising the Program Sponsor Guide. We will also initiate collaborative efforts to advance research and testing in areas such as recognition and labeling, data reporting, delivery models, and workforce development.
We invite you to review our Program Report and join the HPwES family in its pursuit to advance the market for home performance.
From our team to yours, we wish you success in 2013!
