Vienna, Virginia and Scottsdale, Arizona – July 19, 2018 – Pearl Certification and HomeSmart International are proud to announce that HomeSmart Arizona has been accepted into Pearl’s prestigious Broker Advantage Program. HomeSmart is the first broker in Arizona to receive this distinction.
“HomeSmart agents work relentlessly each day to help their clients get maximum value for their homes,” stated Carol Perry, chief business development officer at HomeSmart International. “Being accepted into the Pearl Advantage Program will allow our agents to further achieve that goal, while helping ensure the home they leave behind will be comfortable and healthy for the next owner. This partnership brings together two strong real estate brands with benefits that extend to our agents and all of their clients. We can’t wait to get started!”
In Arizona alone, HomeSmart has over 6,545 agents and has closed more than 11,000 transactions in 2018. The current monthly average exceeds 1,900 transactions and over 22,000 in 2017.
“Only a small number of elite brokers with an exceptional level of professionalism and quality customer service are accepted into our Broker Advantage program,” said Pearl CEO Cynthia Adams. “HomeSmart is a perfect fit for Pearl – they are the industry leaders in the Arizona market, and we are delighted to work with them.”
As a Broker Advantage Program member, HomeSmart agents receive training on identifying, valuing, and marketing high-performing homes. These are homes with energy efficient and renewable energy features that make the home more affordable, comfortable, and healthier to live in. As Pearl Partners, HomeSmart agents can also offer a discounted certification to sellers and payment for the certification at time of closing.
Pearl’s certification includes a detailed report of the home’s high-performing features, an Appraisal Addendum, and a full-color print and online marketing package. When marketed properly, Pearl certified homes sell for a 5% premium, according to an independent study authored by appraisers.
“Buyers want energy efficient, healthy homes, and survey after survey shows they’ll pay more for them – but only if they have reliable, investment-grade information about the home’s features,” said Pearl President and COO Robin LeBaron. “Pearl’s partnerships with select brokerages ensures that qualified agents have the training and tools to showcase these homes.”
Pearl Certification is a national firm that provides third-party certification of high-performing homes: homes with “performance assets” that make them healthy, safe, comfortable, and energy efficient. Pearl Home Certification, which has raised more than $4.5 million from private and institutional investors, was accepted into the prestigious National Association of Realtors REach Accelerator program in 2017. We got solar panels installed on our home on 22 April 2016 - Earth Day, coincidentally. We now have a full year's worth of energy data since they were installed, so I thought I would look at how much energy they produced and how much we consumed during our first year of having solar. Fair warning: this post will inevitably be pretty wonky. I'm glad to delve into technical details further in comments or elsewhere if people ... [continue reading]
Given the critical role that state and local energy policy and regulations play in the development of energy efficiency marketplaces, HPC focuses on removing state and local barriers to the growth of small businesses seeking to thrive in the residential energy efficiency marketplace. There are lots of videos about Natural Building. Sublime dialogue-free ones with just music; a favorite of mine shows step-by-step construction of a timber frame build in Finland with no dialogue, just great music, the photography is expertly done and clear. It begins with horses skidding freshly felled trees in a snow-carpeted forest to the building site. Hand-tools only, this film shows beautiful hatchets and axes, and the textures of slices of wood dancing off ... [continue reading]

Seventy million American homes and businesses burn natural gas, oil, or propane on-site to heat their space and water, generating 560 million tons of carbon dioxide each year—one-tenth of total US emissions. But now, we have the opportunity to meet nearly all our buildings’ energy needs with electricity from an increasingly low-carbon electric grid, eliminating direct fossil fuel use in buildings and making obsolete much of the gas distribution system—along with ... California took the bold step recently to become the first state to require all new homes—including multi-family residential buildings, up to three stories—built after January 1, 2020 to have solar arrays installed. This is huge news, as California often leads the waywhen it comes to green developments. While there have been a few cities in the United States that have such mandates, California’s is the first statewide decision. It’s ... [continue reading]
