Dear Readers:
We
couldn’t have chosen a better time to be entering
into our 25th year of publishing Home Energy
magazine. While home performance isn’t yet the
catchphrase on everyone’s lips, the industry is
growing—as is our subscriber base. Home performance
programs are popping up across the country, and green
building programs are increasingly recognizing the value
of building science. Even consumer publications are
talking up home efficiency. In short, the topics that
Home Energy magazine has covered
for the last 24 years are finally getting trendy.
This growing interest in the energy use of buildings
has led to some positive growth here at Home
Energy as well. We have updated and expanded
the content on our Web site—
a major portal for attracting new readers. We are also
expanding our coverage of the home performance industry
by publishing special issues on timely topics of particular
interest. In all of our publications, we strive to show
how housing can contribute to solving our environmental
problems, instead of worsening them.
Home Energy continues to
be a solution for those professionals who are seeking
to optimize their own performance. We provide a forum
for building scientists, builders, contractors, raters,
efficiency consultants, and program managers to exchange
practical information, advice, and experience. With
their help, we can continue to offer the best, most
thorough information on making homes more efficient,
durable, healthy—and, yes, green. Here’s
to another 25 years of “there’s no place
like Home Energy!”
